Just crossed over the Tappan Zee Bridge, which is a cantilever bridge that crosses over the Hudson River at one of its widest points. The bridge was built in 1955 and has been an important structure for over 60 years. However, it will be replaced soon.
We had some great views of the construction of the new bridge being built. It has been in construction for about two years. Last year all the footings went in. This year the large cranes, including the giant red, white, and blue one in the photo have been used to place the large blue bridge sections in place. This new bridge is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019.
